Try the World: Brazil

Our Try the World box from Brazil arrived today.  We decided to renew our subscription.   It's rather nice to have for date night.

I assume these two products go together to make some sort of savory/spicy meal.

A fruit jam.

Cookies that I plan to have with the jam.

Cheese bread mix.

We already opened this peanut candy.  It was soft and delicious.
Five individually wrapped pieces come in the box.

Brazilian coffee.

And lastly, guava paste.   When I had a quince paste before, I used it as a cookie filling.  I hope this is good.

Billy Elliot the Musical

Just got back from Billy Elliot at the Beck Center.   Wonderful show, amazing talent.  The young man playing the title character shows such phenomenal dance skills.   A ton of poise!

This musical is based a true story about a kid with talent for ballet, but whose family is embroiled in the Irish coal miner strike of the 1980s.   His dad wanted him to take boxing lessons, but young Billy accidently finds himself in ballet class, and extrodinary at it.  I really think you should go see it.

Also, thus ends my theater reviews for the season.   All the tickets have been used and thoroughly enjoyed.   Starting in the fall, I will have 21 shows to write about.   I don't even know if people read my blog, but that's the schedule.   Later!

Travel Adventure Birthday Cupcakes

We went to Main Street Cupcakes original location yesterday.  The closed their other branches, so this one is the only one left.  It was worth the trip.  Pictured above from left to right:
Back row: Birthday cake, Hudson Apple Pie, Toffee Coffee
Front row: Chocolate Raspberry and Blueberry Cheesecake

This bakery has given me really high standards for cupcakes.  Once you try them, everything else is sort of meh.  They have 200 plus different flavors on a rotating menu, plus you can order boozy adult cupcakes for special occassions.

Burgers 2 Beer

Yesterday we had lunch/dinner at Burgers 2 Beer.  The restuarant occupies the corner where Eddie & Eddies was, and then later Cerinos.   I really like this place.  They have a vast menu and a friendly, casual atmosphere.   Pictured above is my Like Butta Baby burger.   Truffle oil infused with bacon, brie, and fried onions.  Yummy!

Steve had the Vampire Hunter burger.   It's very garlic filled with pepperoni.   Also tasty!

Here is a picture of the burger selection on their most recent menu.   We are definitely coming back.

Otani Noodle

Steve, Marie, and I went to Otani Noodle in University Circle this past Wednesday.  Otani has a couple of Japanese restaurants on the east side that serve sushi and the works.   I've seen them at the Cleveland Asian Festival too.   This hip little place specializes in ramen, and I can honestly say that it is the best I've had in the city to date.   They just opened this week.  Pictured above is the shrimp tempura ramen that I ordered.

The tempura was well done, crispy at the tail.  The servers were careful to not saturate all of the shrimp.   There are some mushrooms and broccoli in there too.   What amazed me was the broth.  It was savory and only a bit salty.   I am definitely going to go back.
